Addressing Unrealistic Expectations in Marriage

I have been away from my blog for a little while due to being busy with classes. I am currently working on a masters in marriage and family therapy, which has led me to understand the conflicts in marriage a little more. Many problems with marriage start with unrealistic expectations and, possibly a misunderstanding of very important topics. These topics that are usually relationship killers are finances, number of children, faith, and marital expectations. The topics listed are not the only important conversations to have, but they are the crux of many arguments. Through pre-marital counseling, these topics can be addressed. If pre-marital counseling was not something you did, it is never too late to have open and honest discussions about the expectations you have in marriage.

What I have learned about my marriage, thus far in my journey toward licensure, is the role media has played in unrealistic expectations. This will be addressed in my next blog post as well as how you can value your marriage even if it is not Instagram perfect.
