Why Messy Motherhood Became Anchored Where We Grow

For a long time, Messy Motherhood was exactly the right name for this space.

It held the little-kid chaos, the cold coffee, the marriage lessons, the military moves, the faith questions, and the stories I didn’t want to forget.

But somewhere along the way, the work grew.

I began writing more about marriage, family patterns, faith, military life, advocacy, and the deeper things underneath the everyday moments. The name still mattered, but it no longer held the whole story.

So this isn’t really a goodbye to Messy Motherhood.

It’s a recognition that it became part of the roots.

Why Anchored Where We Grow?

Anchored Where We Grow came from a question I keep returning to:

What does healthy growth look like in the soil you’re actually standing in?

We don’t always choose the soil.

Sometimes the season is beautiful. Sometimes it is exhausting. Sometimes growth looks like flowers. Sometimes it looks like roots strengthening underground where no one else can see them.

What the imagery means

The anchor represents what holds: Christ, faith, truth, values, commitment, and the relationships worth tending.

The roots represent what came before us: our history, patterns, traditions, strengths, wounds, and beliefs.

The flowers represent the visible parts of growth—the seasons when something beautiful is finally above the surface.

The rocks remind us to tell the truth about hardship. Some are part of the terrain. Some are barriers we learn to grow around. And some can—and should—be moved.

This space will never tell you to simply “bloom harder.” Sometimes flourishing looks like flowers. Sometimes it looks like roots. Both matter.

What is changing—and what isn’t

What is changing is the name and the room this space has to grow.

What is not changing is the heart of it.

There will still be real family stories. There will still be imperfect days. There will still be marriage, faith, military life, advocacy, humor, hard seasons, and probably coffee that has gone cold somewhere along the way, maybe missing all together?

Messy Motherhood is not being erased, in fact, its the seed that started everything. Now?

It is part of the roots.

And we’re growing from there.
