Moments in marriage

My husband and I have been married for five years as of this past weekend. When I look at those five years, I see a lot of change in both of us individually and who we are as a couple. Marriage is not easy. To me, it means waking up and going to bed each day, making the decision to love the person you married even when they make you crazy. Neither of us is the easiest people to live with. We both have prior trauma from relationships and baggage that affects our marriage, but we have and continue to learn how to minimize the past relationships and remember those events do not need to influence our life together. In the five years we have been married, we experienced mountains and valleys, but we had each other. We continue to have each other, and we always will. We are not who we were the day we were married, nor a year or more ago. We keep moving forward and looking towards God and the future. I will always love my husband and look forward to the rest of our lives together, although if he could put his socks in the hamper, I’d be thrilled.
