Our Bible study this year is the book of John. I never realized just how beautiful Jesus’ ministry was until I read this book and really studied it. Reading the crucifixion was hard because so much of the situation felt so hypocritical. The Jewish leaders were focused on Passover, but they didn’t realize that the pure, sacrificial lamb was right in front of them. They were so worried about following the rules that they missed what was in front of them. I can’t completely judge because how many of us miss what God is putting right in front of us? How many answeres to prayers have stared us in the face bit we didn’t recognize them because it didn’t look like what we thought? How many times have we missed the beauty of God’s grace because we thought things should be different? So many times, we don’t see what is in front of us because of our expectations. We need to change our expectations in order to accept what God is giving us. The Jewish leaders missed the messiah because He did not appear how they thought he should, I don’t want to miss out on the amazing things God has in store for me because I am so focused on what I think my blessings should look like. I want to accept what God gives me with open arms, do you?
