Housekeeping

I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful children, a dog, and cats. My home is chaos and always needs something straightened, cleaned, vacuumed, or mopped. As a result, I do a lot of running back and forth with very little direction. Every room is cleaned, but it takes twice as long, and the work I have done is undone pretty quickly. As a result, I made a schedule. I love calendars and schedules. To be honest, my life runs from multiple binders, calendars, and lists. Now that I have found a system, I have learned a lot through making changes. When I am organized, I feel more at peace. I know what I plan to work on and have everything scheduled so I don’t forget. My home and I are more welcoming when my husband comes home. Rather than a frazzled wife with a bunch of half done projects, he gets someone who is more relaxed and has things done. My kids have a routine as well, now more concrete, and it has helped with managing expectations. My home runs better, and so do I, when there is less chaos. Housekeeping is a ministry all its own, and when managed, it can be just as rewarding as other aspects of serving others.
