The past couple of days, I have had way less patience than usual. I feel like I am being tested, and my children, along with my husband, are being used in this endeavor. I am apologizing a lot for my wrongs lately, mostly being short-tempered and easily frustrated. Yesterday, our daughter got into the main bathroom on the far end of our hallway. I always keep the bathroom door closed, but I somehow forgot while I was trying to make dinner and juggle a crying baby with my low tolerance. As I had my back turned to the stove, my daughter weaved toilet paper from the bathroom roll to the stove. My first inclination was frustration. But once I took a breath, I realized how absolutely comical the whole thing was. Was toilet paper wasted, yeah. Was there a mess to clean up, sure. Does our daughter have a future in toilet papering houses? Absolutely. Sometimes, we are tempted to react in anger or frustration. I have a terrible time with being overwhelmed easily (thank you anxiety).I really have to focus on turning away from that sin. I have to remember that God doesn’t want us to react out of anger, but in love to all. It’s easy to say, but harder to do. I spend a lot of time in prayer over my shortcomings and the temptation to react in anger rather than out of love. My children deserve a calmer mother, and my husband deserves a wife who doesn’t nag. Through God’s strength, I can do all things (including having a mild temper) and hopefully teach my beloved children to respond in kindness. For now? I should probably take inventory of all the toilet paper in the house and hide it from our toddler.
