Giving (and Taking) Advice

Wow, 257 views on this blog! It’s pretty amazing that people find what I say interesting or helpful. As readers have discovered through viewing my posts, I do not have it all together. My house, life, car, children, pets….ALL OF IT IS CHAOS. But it’s my chaos, and I love it. I have been told that I have wonderful insight. Believe me, that’s pretty shocking for a person who has stepped outside without pants a couple of times. In my defense, I had a long shirt on and was distracted, but I suppose that’s besides the point. Anyway, the real point of this whole spiel is to say that I am not one of those wonderfully put-together moms. I honestly thought I was failing in comparison with the moms who had perfectly matched children and manicured homes with manicured lawns who did their makeup every day. I felt behind and ashamed of my motherhood. But the important thing, for me to learn, was that motherhood is not a competition (well, it does not have to be a competition). We have our own strengths, and they do not always look like anyone else’s. God made you with your abilities for a reason. He designed you with strengths and weaknesses. The weaknesses are meant for us to go to Him for his strength rather than trying on our own. There’s a reason you were put here, a reason you were given your family. You are wonderfully made, I tend to forget this sometimes, but I hope you do not. So, from one chaos coordinator to all of you, you are valuable, loved, worthy, blessed, and special in God’s eyes.
