Having an Attitude of Gratitide

I complain the moment something happens that isn’t part of my plan. I throw a pity party and become frustrated. I allow myself to wallow in the experience without actively working towards change. For example, the constant mess that comes with two children and running a household. When my children make a mess while they are playing with their toys, I don’t look at giggling little ones. I don’t see the learning that is going on at an educational and social level. All I see is the mess that is scattered all over my living room from two tiny but adorable tornados. Missing these moments is saddening at the end of the day. I let myself get so wrapped up in the need to have a presentable home that I miss the growth that is happening. As a result, I am learning to shift my focus. Instead of focusing on the chaos, I need to worry less and play more. Remember the gratitude I felt the moment we had these beautiful children and enjoy the small moments I can never get back. Let the kids make their mess and learn from experiences. Be loud and silly with our children so that they remember how much their mom enjoyed being with them and experiencing life alongside them. I’m going to choose to be grateful and enjoy my family rather than focusing on perfect.
