Penalty flag

Our daughter is spirited. She is one of the most interesting people I know. At two, she reasons really well for her age. Today, she nudged her brother with her foot off her chair because she didn’t want him with her. Later, she threw his cup all because she was not thrilled with her own cup. She had two minutes in the penalty box for unnecessary roughness. Also known as a two minute time out in her bedroom. She had some remorse about her behavior, but she didn’t seem to know how to control her frustration. It’s my job to teach our children, as their mother, my role in life is to guide her to control her temper. Through teaching her how to control her temper, I have learned a lot about myself. I have learned that I must be calm to help my children be calm. I have to have control of my emotions to show them how to have control. I have to surrender to God for our children to surrender themselves to God. In raising our children, I have learned so much about myself and who I want to be. The person, wife, and mother I want to be. When I watch our daughter in her moments of frustration, all I can think about is how much easier it would be for her to take a breath and wait. She would learn so much through patience, I have learned so much through patience. Our children make me a better person, and I thank God for them every day.
