  • Mama’s on Her Own…..Now What?

Have you ever woken up and thought today is going to be a great day but chaos happened? Picture this….early morning and my husband has to go to Detroit for a production meeting (Navy recruiting is full of meetings) and I’m saying goodbye. The house is peaceful, the baby is drinking his milk and I go back to bed with a quick prayer of “God. please help me to get through this day”. No sooner do I say amen then little boy spits up everywhere. To the bath we go! Once that’s over, big sister is awake and I’m telling my little miss that mama will be there soon. Suddenly, I hear a thud and walk in to find that my wonderful almost two year old tossed her diaper with a throw that would make Tom Brady jealous (If anyone wants to pass on her name to the draft, she will play for fruit loops). With that, we are off to the changing table and she is off and running. Good morning world, lets do this. I would like to tell you the day became easier as it went, but no. My 70 lb German Shepherd decided that she could and should sit in our dining room chair at the dining room table (If you have never seen a dog with butt and all four paws on a chair, you’re missing out). We had phone calls to nana and chasing my strong willed girl through the house to get my phone back. There was laughter, tears, fits, and stories (and maybe Beauty and the Beast on repeat). Among the chaos and the crazy “I cannot believe this is my life” moments, I realized that I loved every minute of it. In our family we do not do dull. We have a toddler and large dog who run through the house leaving knocked over toys in their wake, a baby that looks like he has resting grump face (but really my beloved 2 month old is super cute and cuddly), and a husband who may be busy but takes time out of his day to video chat his babies and do tuck ins at night. Nothing is easy, its not always organized or tied up in a pintrest worthy bow but I go to bed every night with a full heart and gratitude to God.
